Posted: 09 May 2019 12:14 AM PDT Hyro da Hero doesn’t have to front. The Houston-born, Los Angeles-based rapper has a vision for music. It doesn’t include flavor-of-the-week ringtones and absurd novelty dances. It has nothing to do with pre-packaged Hollywood pretense or fluffed and folded egos. Much to the contrary, Hyro’s vision involves real rhymes about real life, music with a message, buoyant, bombastic beats and daggers shot right between the eyes of every fake MC on the scene. Hyro isn’t afraid to tell it like it is. He’ll call your favorite rapper out in one track, and then he’ll shine some light on a major social problem in another. However, he’s also apt to get the club bouncing with a grit and gusto that’s classy and chock full of swagger. Hyro touched down in Los Angeles in November 2007, and he’s been silently plotting his hip hop infiltration. It started when he released his first mixtape on Christmas Eve 2007, entitled Gangsta Rock, exclusively as a free download via iLike.com. The album went on to be downloaded in excess of 150,000 times by fans worldwide. One cut, “Noose Around Hip Hop” called out the so-called “Rap royalty” for overlooking social tragedies. The track illustrated a socially conscious side of Hyro’s that has only become more prominent in his new material. However, he can still spit a hilarious and incisive line without breaking a sweat, like on “B Boy Stance.” Supporting Gangsta Rock, Hyro proceeded to tour the U.S. and Canada with West Coast rap legends Tha Alkaholiks. Hyro was direct support to Ill Niño in Brazil and Argentina. He’s played shows alongside 50 Cent, Deftones, Staind, Lo Pro, Chevelle, Halestorm, The Used, Hatebreed, Suicide Silence, Taking Back Sunday, Bone Thugs & Harmony, Tha Alkaholiks, DJ Quik and many others. “The live show is more important than anything,” Hyro exclaims. “For me, getting in front of a crowd and communicating with the fans is what I was born to do. If you can’t connect with your fans, you’ve got nothing. There’s never a show where I don’t give 200 percent.” The fans have responded, and Hyro’s become a veritable presence on MySpace.com, Orkut.com and Facebook.com. His music’s been prominently distributed on mixtape hub Datpiff.com, in addition to being traded by fans all over torrent and warez sites. The critics have also spoken. Alternative Press named Hyro Da Hero One of the 100 Bands You Need to Know in 2009. Tastemaker blog My Old Kentucky has lauded him on a few occasions, and he’s been featured on music destinations ranging from ARTISTdirect.com to Absolutepunk.net and Blabbermouth.net. However, the music has only gotten fiercer. In August 2008, Hyro dropped his second album, once again exclusively via iLike.com, entitled Rock N Roll Gangsta. Downloads have already exceeded 120,000 and counting. The album was solemnly dedicated to the memory of Ryan Patrick Halligan, a young boy who succumbed to the pressures of online bullying and tragically committed suicide. Hyro’s poignant and powerful “Children” serves as a fitting eulogy, and it’s been appropriated by Ryan’s parents on their web site. In addition, Rock N Roll Gangsta brandished the explosive “Glimpse Into New America” and “Get Up Get Down.” Rock N Roll Gangsta was just the beginning,” says Hyro. “The shit that I’m writing with my band is on another level. It’s hip hop like you’ve never heard. Think of it like Ian MacKaye meeting Tupac at the end of the world—we’re on some revolution shit.” Right now, Hyro's finishing up his latest CD, Belo Horizonte, which will be released exclusively via HyroDaHero.com in Autumn 2009. Hyro introduces us to "Dirty South Rock," the lead single on Belo Horizonte which was produced by Fred Archambault (Avenged Sevenfold). "That song is the perfect blend of rap and rock and what I am trying to do with my music," says Hyro. "The hood loves it and rockers love it." With a smile he laughs, “Be ready, because it’s only the beginning.” Hyro’s about to wake the whole fucking game up, are you prepared? The post Hyro Da Hero appeared first on BoxOfficeHero. |

Posted: 08 May 2019 11:26 PM PDT The band was started after Kyle “KJ” Jansen, Mark O’Flaherty and Mike Eggermont started selling Chixdiggit! T-shirts at their high-school, although at this stage the band did not officially exist. Eventually the shirts started selling well, which provided the band with enough money to purchase a drum kit. However none of the band members had any musical experience nor did any of the members own instruments (except Mark who owned a classical guitar). Mike took up playing Bass and because “KJ couldn’t sit still long enough to be drummer” he took up playing guitar as well as becoming the lead vocalist for the band. The band in its early stages went through many drummers, however, Jason Hirsh is currently the drummer for the band. Officially the band started in 1991 and started playing shows in 1992. However, they only played a small number of shows at this stage and decided to concentrate their efforts on practicing. In 1993 the band started playing regularly in venues around Calgary. In 1996 Chixdiggit! were signed to Sub Pop records. They released their first self-titled album on the record label, however they only lasted a short time on the label. The band left the label as they felt as though they didn’t fit in with the record label’s ideals. As stated by Mike from the band: “the people that actually had to sell our records and deal with us on a day to day basis were not quite so fond of us”. At this stage Chixdiggit was touring worldwide. They were quickly picked up by Honest Don’s Records, a Fat Wreck Chords subsidiary from San Francisco. After the release of 2000’s From Scene to Shining Scene, the band took a hiatus, from which they returned in 2003 and in 2005 the band started writing and recording its fourth full length album, Pink Razors. The album was released April 19, 2005 on Fat Wreck Chords in North American and Bad Taste Records in Europe. Founding member Mike Eggermont left the band in 2002 and started Blatant Media, a software company. In 2003, drummer Dave Alcock (owner of Sundae Sound recording studio) left the band, and was replaced by the band’s original drummer, Jason Hirsch. On October 31st, 2007, the band released a re-recording of their debut album, Chixdiggit!, on Bad Taste Records. The re-recorded album was titled Chixdiggit! II. Read more on Last.fm. Their current line-up includes Chris (vocals, guitar), Roger (bass, vocals, guitar at certain live shows), Vinnie (drums, lyricist), Buddy (trombone, bass at certain live shows) and JR (saxophone). Posted: 08 May 2019 11:23 PM PDT Sum 41 is a Canadian punk rock band from Ajax, Ontario, Canada, active since 1996. The current members are Deryck Whibley (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jason McCaslin (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Tom Thacker (lead guitar, backing vocals, keyboard). They’ve released five studio albums. Sum 41 released their debut album, All Killer No Filler, in 2001 and achieved mainstream success through the album’s first single, “Fat Lip”, which reached number-one on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart; it remains the band’s most successful single to date. They have since released four more studio albums: Does This Look Infected? (2002), Chuck (2004), Underclass Hero (2007), and Screaming Bloody Murder (2011). The band was formed by singer-songwriter Deryck Whibley and drummer Steve Jocz, after Whibley convinced Jocz to join his band. Jocz was a drummer in another band and Whibley was convinced that “he was the best drummer around”. The duo then added Dave Baksh as lead guitarist a year later and after going through several bassists, ended up picking jason McCaslin to complete their lineup. On May 10, 2006, Dave Baksh announced in a statement through his management company that he was leaving Sum 41 to work with his new band, Brown Brigade, which has a more “classic metal” sound. Baksh cited “creative differences” as the reason for his departure but claimed that he was still on good terms with the band. On March 9, 2010, Steve Jocz confirmed that new lead guitarist Tom Thacker will take part in the writing and recording. On April 18, 2013, drummer Steve Jocz announced he would be leaving the band via his official Facebook page, leaving Whibley as the sole founding member of the band. Their follow up album will be the band’s second collaboration as a trio and first with Whibley and McCaslin as the only two bandmates from their original release left. Johnny Cash on the farms of Arkansas, Mike Ness on the mean streets of Los Angeles, and a skinny kid from the ghettos of Tupelo named Elvis who happened to be brimming with soul. JD Mcpherson is one of those talents cut from that same artistic cloth.
