The highly anticipated collaboration of Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, and OutKast’s André 3000 has finally debuted. Despite all the hype and pressure, the track, “DoYaThingâ€, is actually pretty awesome.
“DoYaThing†starts out with Gorillaz/Blur frontman Damon Albarn doing his usual sing/talk/rap thing over a peppier-than-usual beat. James Murphy comes in a couple times for a falsetto chorus before André takes over and makes it “DoYaThing†a badass hip-hop track. “DoYaThing†came out of three days in the studio as a part of Converse’s new “Three Artists. One Song†series.
This version of “DoYaThing†is actually something of an extended teaser, with a full 12-minute song coming sometime soon. Gorillaz’s creative mastermind Jamie Hewlett will get a chance to shine on February 29 when a music video for the shorter “DoYaThing†comes out. Listen to the four-minute version of "DoYaThing" below. Grab the mp3 over at Converse.
