About time we heard some good rumors: Pavilion becomes playground for 16th Children's Festival
Thousands of children will swarm the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion this weekend for the 16th annual Childrenâs Festival.
The Pavilion will host youngsters for two days of music, dance, theater, comedy, arts and crafts, games, hands-on activities and more. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8 per person in advance or $10 per person at the door, while children under 2 are admitted free.
The daily admission fee includes every show and activity.
Award-winning childrenâs performers include Thomas & Friends Sing Along Adventure, Star Trek Live and Richard Rennerâs REcycle Show.
Aside from seeing Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends perform on stage, children can have their photographs taken with the train. Star Trek Live provides a younger, interactive performance of the television show. And Richard Renner provides an educational performance, teaching children how to reduce, reuse and recycle through interactive games, music and circus arts.
In addition to performers, the festival also provides interactive activities, balloons, hat-making and face painting at the Wells Fargo Fun Zone. Children can build and fly kites at the top of the hill, make their own slime at the Mad Science of Houstonâs Slipper Slime booth, create their own sidewalk chalk and make crafts at The Villagerâs Arts Alley, such as masks and Do-A-Dot art.
The Activity Tent provides games and amusements organized by local businesses, such as âBe a DJâ with K-STAR Country 99.7 FM and nutrition-related games and physical activities from Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, such as martial arts techniques, an obstacle course, a giant game of âoperationâ and a rock wall.
